Six Senses Kanuhura

Three islands held under one house — the Six Senses Maldives second act.

The Retreat

A portrait, quietly held.

Kanuhura relaunched under the Six Senses flag on 1 September 2023, after a long closure that reset the property from the slightly tired Sun Group asset into a contemporary Six Senses expression. The three-island estate is the headline: the main Kanuhura island, plus the two uninhabited islets of Jehunuhura and Masleggihuraa, used for castaway lunches, stargazing dinners, and picnics. The Six Senses wellness layer is fully present — sleep programme, longevity programming, organic garden — and the kitchen runs to six houses, from Italian Bottega to Drift's castaway lunch. The mood is softer and more sociable than the sister property in Laamu — same DNA, different register.

For the Six Senses traveller after a softer register · the three-island estate · the castaway lunch.

Wellbeing

The quiet hours.

Six Senses Spa

The brand's sleep programme and longevity protocol on the softer of the two Maldives addresses — wellness held sociable rather than monastic.

Experiences

The days, drawn out.

What the retreat actually does well beyond the villa line — with its own schedules and price lists where it publishes them. Every experience is arranged through your correspondent.

  1. 01
    Island

    The castaway islets

Jehunuhura and Masleggihuraa are held as uninhabited islets — the castaway lunch at Drift and the stargazing night both happen off the main island.

  2. 02
    Island

    The three-island estate

The 2023 relaunch drew one house over three islands — the register moves between them by dhoni and whim.

  3. 03
    Dining

    The table's range

Market to Bottega to The Point's tapas — Sip & Sand turns from charcoal day to Japanese evening.

The Shape of a Day

How the day holds.

A sketched register of one day at Six Senses Kanuhura — the hours we tend to compose around. Yours will be drawn for the company you keep.

  1. First light

    The main island

The beach line before breakfast — the estate's clock starts gently.

  2. Morning

    The dhoni out

A castaway islet, a snorkel line, or the Lhaviyani dive sites — the water decides.

  3. Afternoon

    The sleep programme

Six Senses' quiet science — or the simpler protocol of a hammock at Jehunuhura.

  4. Evening

    Sip & Sand, turned

Charcoal by day, Japanese by night — then The Point's tapas if the evening runs long.

Occasions

The days that mark.

A private islet changes what an occasion can be — the vow at Jehunuhura with nobody else ashore, dinner at Drift, the party returned by dhoni under the stars.

Bespoke Insights

Held quietly, in writing.

The particulars a brochure would miss — the small notes we keep on this retreat, drawn from the journeys we have composed here.

  1. 01

Kanuhura's Six Senses relaunch opened 1 September 2023 — the second Six Senses property in the country, after Laamu.

  2. 02

The three-island estate is the headline — the main island plus the two uninhabited islets used for castaway dining and stargazing.

  3. 03

Softer and more sociable than the Laamu sister — same Six Senses DNA, the Lhaviyani location keeps it within easier transfer reach.
